Megan Widman (she/her) is a Special Instructor in the Social Work Program. Megan received a BA in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor and went on to obtain her master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University, with a concentration in Community Practice and Social Action.

Megan’s experience includes direct practice with survivors of sexual and domestic violence as well as educational interventions and primary prevention approaches to ending these crimes. Megan’s nearly 10 years of service at HAVEN entailed roles such as Social Action Program Director and Prevention Education Program Director. As the previous Co-Chair of the Oakland County Coordinating Council against Domestic Violence and Founder of the Farmington Hills High Risk Response team, Megan’s career has been focused on systems change and policy advocacy as a macro social worker.

In addition to her role at Oakland University, Megan is involved in training law enforcement officers on domestic violence and sexual assault investigation, interview, and response strategies on a statewide level for the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. Megan also works as the Research Project Coordinator at the University of Michigan, where she manages a multi-year project examining university responses to campus sexual assault in an uncertain legal context.
