Biography

Margaret B. Pigott received her Ph.D. in Medieval Literature at the University of Detroit in 1974. Shortly after, she joined the faculty at Oakland University. Since then she has taken part in conferences in Israel, Japan, Singapore, Canada, and England and published numerous articles on Medieval Literature, Rhetoric, and Communication in U.S. Spanish, and English Journals as well as in on-line Journals. As a member of the Writing and Rhetoric Department she taught Writing courses at Oakland University as well Honor’s College courses. In addition to her faculty duties, Dr. Pigott was Director of International Education – www2.oakland.edu/ie. As director she traveled the world for Oakland University establishing Memoranda of Agreement with universities in England, India, Korea, and China. She focused on global business rhetoric and writing in academia. She has been married to Emeritus Professor Edward J. Wolff for 36 years, has five children and seven grand-children. Along with her daughter Kate, in 1980 Dr. Pigott ran the first all-women’s marathon in London, England, the breakthrough race establishing that women could compete in the Olympics in the marathon. In addition to being an avid bridge player, she enjoys fishing in Alaska, and in Michigan, and is continually wonderstruck at the amazing and diverse cultures of the world.
