Counseling Organizations
Chi Sigma Iota is the international honor society of professional counseling. It was established in 1985 through the efforts of leaders in the profession of counseling whose desire was to provide recognition for outstanding achievement as well as outstanding service within the profession. CSI was created for counselors-in-training, counselor educators and professional counselors whose career commitment is to research and service through professional counseling.
Our mission is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling.
Membership is open to both students and graduates. For additional information on the eligibility requirements, please review "Who is eligible to join Chi Sigma Iota?" listed under member frequently asked questions (FAQ).
Complete an online application on the Chi Sigma Iota website. Please select the appropriate member type at the beginning of the application process. Different options are listed. The application will ask for the chapter name, which is Theta. Please be sure to pay the membership fee with the secure credit card online option. You will be reminded annually via email about renewing your membership. Many students continue active membership as they move on to professional counselor status due to the benefits CSI offers. Finally, drop off an unofficial copy of your transcript at 440H Pawley Hall.
It is mandated that all CSI members are officially inducted. An induction ceremony is held twice a year.
