Future Undergraduate Students and Families
Welcome future Golden Grizzly students and families! Financial Aid and Scholarships is happy to help you in your discovery of Oakland University. We are committed to helping you navigate the process of learning how to pay for college, helping you apply for financial aid at OU and understanding your financial aid offer. Below you’ll find a checklist of things you and your family can do to begin reaching your college goals!
- Attend a virtual Paying for College presentation
It’s helpful to have knowledge of financial aid when you’re trying to navigate your first time in college or the start to your next child’s college journey. Financial aid information changes regularly, and OU is committed to keeping you informed about this important information. - Review the available scholarships and grants for incoming freshmen and transfer students. OU automatically awards merit scholarships in Undergraduate Admissions and grants in Financial Aid and Scholarships to every student who qualifies. Review the Golden Guarantee, which offers FREE TUITION to eligible incoming Michigan freshmen.
- Check out the OU Annual Scholarships.
These scholarships are offered on a limited basis through OU academic and student service departments. Browse through the scholarships offered to see what you might be eligible to apply for when you’re admitted! - Learn about applying for financial aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your first step in applying for financial aid and you can start the process now! This page will help you learn about the process from start to finish. - Use the Net Price Calculator
The Net Price Calculator will collect some general information from you so we can provide an estimate of your Cost of Attendance (an estimate of billable and non-billable items so we know how much financial aid you need) and give you an estimate of some of the financial aid you’ll be eligible for at OU! - Get help filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
You’ll complete a FAFSA for the first time in your senior year of high school, but even if you’re a transfer student who has completed a FAFSA before, it’s ok to need some help! We’re here to provide you with assistance as you complete your FAFSA. Join a virtual workshop to get help! - Create your MiSSG student portal with the State of Michigan
If you’re a resident of the State of Michigan, create your MiSSG student portal after your first FAFSA has been processed (about a week after submission). Review and apply for additional scholarships from the state. - Once you’re admitted, head over to find your next steps at the Admitted and Currently Enrolled Undergraduate Students section.
