GHC IS OPEN FOR ESSENTIAL SERVICES 
GHC TELEHEALTH VISITS FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF ARE AVAILABLE 
ANYONE  WITH A FEVER AND/OR ANY RESPIRATORY COMPLAINTS CANNOT BE SEEN AT GHC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. 
 
TESTING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH COVID SYMPTOMS  IS AVAILABLE AT:
  • STATE FAIR GROUNDS (8 MILE/WOODWARD) DRIVE THROUGH TESTING (requires appointment (313) 230-0505 and lab order from PCP or GHC)

    During this pandemic you may be asked to do any of the following:
     
    Self Monitor - people with no symptoms who had a low risk exposure, like being in a building at the same time with someone with COVID 19.
         1. Practice social distancing
         2. Check your temperature 2 x day 
         3. If symptoms develop call your health care provider
    Self Quarantine - people with no symptoms who had a higher potential of sick because of close contact with someone sick with COVID risk should:
    • Stay home 24/7 and self monitor temperature for 14 days.
    • Family and roommates should practice social distancing (stay 6 feet away). Do not share a bedroom or bathroom (if possible) with other household members. Do not share personal items (towels, utensils, dishes) with household members. Do not go to work or school for this 14-day period. 
    • If you develop symptoms CALL your doctor or GHC.
    Self isolate - for people sick with symptoms of fever, cough, and/or difficulty breathing y ou should:
    • Stay in a separate room from other household members. If you must share a bathroom, keep toothbrushes separate and disinfect all surfaces after each use.
    • Wear a mask if you go into a shared spaces.
    • If symptoms worsen, seek medical care right away. Before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room, call ahead and tell them about your symptoms. 
    • Stop Isolation after you are fever free for 3 days (without taking fever reducing medication), it has been at least 7 days since symptoms began and your symptoms are improving.

    PREVENTION OF RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS

    WHAT HAPPENS IF A STUDENT OR EMPLOYEE HAS COVID 19?

    All suspected or confirmed COVID cases need to be reported to GHC immediately. Reports of cases are handled following CDC guidelines.

    Planning a visit:
    • For new patients, our registration form can be downloaded and completed before you arrive.
    • Plan at least for a 60- to 90-minute visit.
    • To bill your insurance you MUST provide a hard copy of your insurance card (front & back). This may be faxed to GHC at (248) 370-2691.
    • Same-day appointments are usually available.
    • Walk-ins are accepted for sick visits but wait times are less predictable.
    • To avoid a no show fee please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
    • Please read the Patient Rights and Responsibilities before your visit.

    Who can use GHC?
    • All current part-time and full-time OU students and students from neighboring colleges.
    • Faculty and staff are eligible when they have work-related injuries or if they are ill.

    Confidentiality
    GHC recognizes and supports patients’ rights to confidential medical care. The privacy of your medical information is important to us and we are committed to protecting it. It is necessary to create a record of the care and services you receive at GHC in order to provide you with quality care and to comply with certain legal requirements.

    If you are 18 years of age or older or an emancipated minor (defined under Michigan law as being married, on active duty in the armed forces or by court order), your health records will be released only with your written consent.

    If you are 16 years of age or older, all sexually-related health records are confidential. This includes sexually transmitted infections, contraception and pregnancy testing. These health records will be released only with your written consent.
