OU highlights high-achievers in newly established ‘Prominent Alumni’ list
The Oakland University Alumni Association has compiled its inaugural list of the most recognizable names among the University’s more than 100,000 alumni. The list is made up of 42 individuals who were deemed “Prominent Alumni” for having reached the pinnacle of their chosen careers or attained positions of influence or high visibility.
The individuals are grouped into six categories: Business and Non-Profit, Government and Law, Research and Academics, Health Care, Media, and Arts and Entertainment.
The list features distinguished leaders, including:
- Howard Birndorf, CAS ’71, Founder of Ligand Pharmaceuticals and Co-founder of Nanogen, GenProbe, IDEC Pharmaceuticals and Hybritech
- Anthony Tersigni, CAS ’83, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ascension
- Bob Walters, SBA, ’89, Chief Economist and Executive Vice President of Capital Markets Group, Quicken Loans, Inc.
- Brian Stuard, SBA ’05, Professional Golfer
- Ruth Johnson, SEHS ’77, Michigan Secretary of State
- Amy Andrews, CAS ’02, News Anchor/Reporter, WJBK Fox 2 Detroit
- Elizabeth Davis-Russell, CAS ’65, President, William V.S. Tubman University (Liberia)
