SBA Dean’s Executive Speaker Series to highlight the role of AI in manufacturing

Oakland University’s next installment of the School of Business Administration Dean’s Executive Speaker Series features a seasoned business leader who will discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) drives growth in the manufacturing industry.   

Dean Chuck Pierce, Ph.D., launched this dynamic series, which brings business executives to the School of Business to foster meaningful connections and inform and connect business professionals with business students and the surrounding business community. 

Scott Cieslak, chief commercial officer of Detroit Manufacturing Systems (DMS), will present his talk “Building Smarter, Faster, & Leaner: AI’s Role in Manufacturing” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in the Janke Auditorium, in Elliott Hall, on OU’s campus.

Cieslak has over 28 years of manufacturing experience, specializing in strategic planning, operational excellence, financial leadership and talent development. Currently serving as the Chief Commercial Officer for DMS, a $1.3 billion Minority Business Enterprise, he is responsible for driving financial growth and strategic initiatives.

Before his current role at DMS, Cieslak advanced through various leadership positions at Forvia, ultimately serving as Vice President of Finance for the North American Seating Division and Chief Financial Officer of North America. His expertise in analyzing business situations and crafting effective plans has consistently contributed to the success of the organizations he’s been a part of.

Cieslak holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Oakland University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, reflecting his deep expertise in financial strategy and business leadership. As an Executive in Residence at the School of Business, he mentors the next generation of business leaders, sharing his wealth of experience and knowledge in strategic management and financial oversight.

In addition to his professional achievements, Cieslak is committed to leadership development, serving on the board of the nonprofit organization Fleece and Thank You. His involvement with the Detroit Athletic Club further showcases his dedication to personal development and professional networking.
