OU to celebrate Veterans Appreciation Week Nov. 6-10
Veterans Appreciation Week

From November 6-10, Oakland University will host a series of events and activities for Veterans Appreciation Week. Check the list below for opportunities to support and celebrate veterans, including more than 200 student, faculty and staff veterans on campus.    

Monday, November 6 | 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
“Mess Hall Monday” meal with OU Veterans Support Services
Oakland Center near Habitat

Tuesday, November 7 | 6-9 p.m.
SVOU-sponsored Movie Night
Veterans Support Services (112 Vandenberg Hall)

Wednesday, November 8 | 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Card Making and SVOU Tabling
Create a holiday card for a resident in the Veterans Home of Chesterfield and talk to Student Veterans of OU board members and veteran liaisons from Easterseals MORC.

Thursday, November 9 | 5-8 p.m.
Bonfire – S’mores with SVOU

Veteran Recognition Luncheon
Invitation-only event for veterans, active duty, National Guard, Reserve members and their guests. Please RSVP to emailed invitation. 

Oakland University will host Military Appreciation Night at the men's basketball game on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., in the OU Credit Union O’rena.

Veterans Appreciation Week is sponsored by Magna International and the David N. Sokol Scholarship for Veterans. 

In addition to Veterans Week celebrations, Oakland University acknowledges and supports U.S. military veterans through a host of programs and services offered throughout the year. The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency recently awarded OU Gold-level status on its 2023 list of veteran-friendly schools, the seventh consecutive year the university has achieved this honor.
