Student Veterans of Oakland University — a chapter of Student Veterans of America — will join Veteran Support Services on Monday, Sept. 11 to host a remembrance ceremony honoring 9/11 first responders and victims at 11 a.m. outside Elliott Tower on the OU campus.
“We want to honor all of the first responders and civilians who lost their lives that day,” said Olivia Armstrong, events coordinator for Student Veterans of Oakland University (SVOU). The organization was established to provide support for veterans and those currently serving.
“At SVOU we help provide a smooth transition into campus and student life,” Armstrong said. “We offer social events, community service, and veterans’ advocacy, while building camaraderie through service to the university and surrounding community.”
