OU Professional and Digital Writing major alumna Emily Lawrence ('20) has published an article in Vol. 19 (2022) of the journal Young Scholars in Writing. Lawrence's article, which can be read online, is entitled "First Year Writing Student Attitudes and Beliefs: The Potential for Writing-Related Transfer," and it came out of her Writing and Rhetoric Capstone thesis, which built on independent studies of Teaching College Writing and College Teaching Apprenticeship with Dr. Elizabeth Allan while she was at OU. In their introduction, the Young Scholars in Writing issue editors comment that "Lawrence's systematic investigation into transfer and reflection exemplifies the kind of work we seek to advance in the journal. Our goal as editors has been to showcase a variety of research methods and methodologies, including empirical research." Congratulations to Emily on this important and exciting publication in the field of Writing Studies!
Lawrence graduated from Oakland University Magna Cum Laude with Departmental Honors in December 2020. She was a double major in Writing & Rhetoric and Philosophy, with a minor in Creative Writing.
