Eliza Lanham Jones was born and raised in Orem, Utah, where she grew up alongside her nine siblings. She started dancing at the age of 4, and began formal ballet training at the age of 7 at Jacqueline’s School of Ballet. She spent 12 years training under the direction of Jacqueline Colledge, Heather Grey and Brittnee Squires, and during that time had the opportunity to perform in many leading classical and contemporary roles. Eliza competed in YAGP in 2010 and was awarded first place in the Contemporary Dance Category, as well as top 12 in the Classical Category. During and following her high school education, she danced professionally with Utah Metropolitan Ballet (formerly Utah Regional Ballet) for two seasons. In 2013, she began her studies at The Juilliard School. While at Juilliard, she had the privilege of performing in works by José Limón, Merce Cunningham and Paul Taylor, as well as new creations by Takehiro Ueyama, Loni Landon, Zvi Gotheiner and Matthew Neenan. Her choreography was performed in Juilliard’s Choreographic Honors in 2015 and 2016. Eliza received her BFA in Dance Performance from Juilliard in May 2017. Since then, she has enjoyed free-lancing, teaching and choreographing locally, while raising two wonderful daughters. Eliza has recently joined Take Root as a company member for their 22-23 season. She looks forward to opportunities to communicate, teach and connect with her community through dance.
