Whitney Locher (she/her/hers) joined the Oakland University faculty in 2020. Ms. Locher is an award-winning costume designer who holds an MFA in costume design and technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In New York City, she has designed costumes for The Roundabout Theatre Company, On Site Opera, Irish Repertory Theatre, The New York Musical Festival, Theatre for a New Audience, The New Victory Theatre, Prospect Theatre Company, The Civilians, Barrow Street Theatre, Partial Comfort Productions, Fiasco Theater, The Pearl Theatre Company, Target Margin and Ars Nova. Regionally, Ms. Locher has designed costumes for Opera Grand Rapids, Opera Carolina, Opera Saratoga, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Weston Playhouse, Gulfshore Playhouse, Cleveland Play House, Long Wharf Theatre, Old Globe, Folger Theatre, McCarter Theatre, Northern Stage, Virginia Arts Festival, Curtis Institute, Ohio Light Opera and Kansas City Repertory Theatre. Her international credits include  Into The Woods at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London and  Shrek, The Musical at the Sofia National Opera and Ballet in Bulgaria. Ms. Locher was the costume designer for the recent U.S. National Tour of  Into The Woods and served as the associate costume designer for the U.S. National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s  Love Never Dies. Ms. Locher previously taught Costume Design II at Pace Performing Arts University in NYC, and is a member of United Scenic Artists, Local 829.
