The Division of Student Affairs & Diversity is comprised of 24 departments that are dedicated to engaging students in an active learning environment that allows for the practical application of knowledge obtained in the classroom. The Academic Success Center (ASC) offers a variety of free services and programs to help students become independent learners and achieve their best academically. This includes tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Academic Support Appointments, learning resources and more.

Career and Life Design Center prepares students and alumni to attain lifelong career success as they make career decisions, develop job search strategies, pursue experiential opportunities, and secure employment.

The Department of Pre-College Programs provides programs to middle school and high school students in the metropolitan area. The office provides academic, social, career and cultural enrichment to these students.

The Dean of Students Office performs a number of university-wide functions that promote and u old the campus values of civility, personal integrity and academic excellence. The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) seeks to ensure that all students with disabilities participate fully in university life. We raise awareness in the university community and provide and coordinate services and programs so that students with disabilities can maximize their educational potential.

Oakland University has embarked on a Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) plan, a very important process in shaping the future of enrollment at OU. The goal of the SEM plan is to align Oakland’s strategic framework with student recruitment goals, retention, and success initiatives — and to optimize resources while identifying the ideal metrics to measure enrollment.

The First-Year Advising Center is a vital resource for all first year students at Oakland. The Center helps students succeed by providing academic advising services, career counseling, and major exploration services.
