Forging the Future of GenAI at OU: A Collaborative Venture

Welcome to AI@OU, the central hub dedicated to the responsible and innovative integration of Artificial Intelligence across Oakland University. We are building a GenAI ecosystem that will advance learning, accelerate discovery and enhance institutional effectiveness for every member of our community.

Our first and most critical step is to develop a clear Vision and Mission for AI@OU that is not only ambitious but is also aligned with Strategic Vision 2030. This undertaking will be a truly collaborative venture and will create opportunities to engage with various campus stakeholders throughout the year. This web section is a starting point for the important conversations needed to integrate GenAI thoughtfully and responsibly at OU.

Creating the Vision and Mission

We will actively engage campus stakeholders through a structured process of consultation, workshops and committees. This partnership will ensure the foundation of AI@OU reflects the diverse needs and expertise across the university.

Stakeholder Engagement: We will collaborate closely with academic leadership, faculty senate committees, research centers, student government and operational units to gather input and co-create our guiding principles.
Strategic Alignment: Every component of the vision will be explicitly mapped to the goals of Strategic Vision 2030, encompassing enhancements to student success and scholarship, as well as strengthening community engagement.
Core Values: This collaborative effort will emphasize equity, transparency and ethics as the core of all GenAI activities.

Integrating GenAI responsibly across teaching, research and university operations.
Empowering Faculty and Staff through AI literacy programs and professional development.
Fostering Innovation where GenAI strengthens human expertise and protects faculty autonomy.
Building Partnerships and creating scalable infrastructure to expand access to GenAI tools.

By investing collaboratively, AI@OU aims to be a leader in demonstrating how GenAI can enrich the educational experience and streamline operations while ensuring its use remains transparent, deeply collaborative and human-centered.
