Central Office Administration — Accelerated Post-Master's Graduate Certificate
If you're a school administrator — or an aspiring teacher who wants to be a curriculum specialist or literacy coach — become an effective central-office leader. You'll solve complex problems, lead a vision for organizational transformation, model caring and trustworthy relationships, engage and collaborate with all stakeholders and act in an ethical manner to support change — all with a focus on leading learning and enhancing student achievement.
Program Features
- 12-month post-master's graduate certificate — fall and winter semester starts
- Classes meet one Saturday each month in the fall and winter terms and two Saturdays during the summer term — at the Macomb University Center in Clinton Township — combined with online assignments and discussions
- 24-credit cohort program features an executive school leadership academy design
- Courses emphasize district-level perspectives
- Performance-driven instruction led by Oakland University faculty
- Authentic internship experience — supported by practicing administrators — where you solve complex school district problems focused on student success as well as fiscal responsibility and accountability
- Curriculum meets State of Michigan central-office leader certification as well as national leadership standards and mandates — ensuring a balance of the explanatory power of theory with the relevance of practice
Clinical Mental Health Counseling — Master of Arts Degree
This program will prepare you to work in a professional counseling role with children, youth, adults and families in community settings.
Program Features- 60-credit hour program — fall and winter semester starts
- Classes meet at the Macomb University Center in Clinton Township and main campus in Rochester
- You may enroll either full-time or part-time
- Performance-driven instruction led by Oakland University faculty
- The program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and prepares you for Michigan counseling licensure.
Educational Leadership — Accelerated Master of Education Degree
If you're a tenured teacher or have four-plus years of educational experience, become an academic leader who directs an academic community with a clear vision; builds positive relationships with staff, students and parents; supports and guides school improvement and empowers others while managing the complexities of change.
Program Features- 13-month accelerated master's degree program — fall and winter semester starts
- Classes meet one weekend a month — on Friday evening and Saturday at the Macomb University Center in Clinton Township — and feature online assignments and group discussions
- 32-credit program incorporates social justice emphasis
- Expert faculty who have extensive practical experience leading educational communities
- School-based summer internship provides real-life experience and mentorship with a school leader
- Eligible for State of Michigan K-12 Administrative Certificate
Education Specialist in Leadership — Accelerated Post-Master's Degree
OU's Education Specialist post-master's degree will enhance your leadership skills so you're a reflective K-12 school administrator who advances a socially just, compassionate and welcoming school culture; sets and maintains insitutional aims and standards; builds relationships with parents and guides your teachers to ensure student success.
Program Features- 18-month accelerated post-master's degree — winter semester start
- Classes meet one weeknight and some Saturdays — at the Macomb University Center in Clinton Township — including two predominantly online courses
- 34-credit cohort program
- Faculty are specialist in leadership and research — many are former school district practitioners
- Relevant curriculum connects with current K-12 education issues
- Mindfulness-embedded content for school administrator development — evidence suggests mindfulness has a positive impact on student learning and behavior
- Customizable research, mentorship and internship
- K-12 administrative certificate and building-level endorsement
- Approved by the Michigan Department of Education
- You may apply 28 credits toward your Ph.D. in Education at OU
