At OUWB, we view the world a little differently. Our notion of the ideal student is distinctive. This is the luxury we have — and the mandate we embrace — as a newer school, unencumbered by long-held traditions, and driven by the changing landscape of medicine and patient care. Learn more here about the various ways to support our students on their medical school journey.

Achieve Something Great
You have it in you to achieve something great.
Welcome to Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine where we’ve broadened the definition of smart. An OUWB education matches expert knowledge and technical skills with courses and activities that spotlight the importance of developing physicians as people. We emphasize listening, compassion, and sensitivity as central to the learning experience. OUWB-trained physicians see patients as individuals in need not as sources of data or problems to be solved.
Spotlight: 2026 OUWB Study Trip to Auschwitz

The 2026 OUWB Study Trip to Auschwitz is underway as a cohort of 20 medical students currently is in Poland.
For regular updates from their journey, see the daily journal on the OUWB Holocaust and Medicine page.
