Raenece (Rae) is the Coordinator of Field Education for the Social Work program. In this position, she is responsible for the field education component of the program. Rae completed her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Oakland University. Rae went on to complete her Master's in Social Work from Michigan State University with a concentration in community organization and leadership. Rae has experience working in various settings including residential facilities for individuals with persistent cognitive disorders, and educational spaces from Head Start to Higher Education focusing on several initiatives such as engagement strategies for students and families to supporting students experiencing basic needs insecurities. In 2018, Rae collaborated with the social work program and student affairs to develop the campus pantry at Oakland University, The Golden Grizzlies Pantry. Rae is a doctoral student at Oakland University in the Higher Education/Organizational Leadership program and her research intends to highlight the challenges of the transfer process in higher education and the strengths of minoritized transfer students to persist to degree completion. Additionally, Rae is passionate about serving social workers locally and nationally as a state Delegate for the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Michigan chapter.
