Breakfast and Introductions (arrive by 8 a.m.)

Faculty and staff greet you in 110A O'Dowd Hall, where your day begins with a continental breakfast (pastries, fruit, coffee) and an introduction to the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. We will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m.

Welcome and Overview

Learn about the OUWB School of Medicine including the curriculum, student services, and admissions.

Team-Based Learning Exercise

You and your fellow interviewees will join one of our dedicated faculty for a team-based learning (TBL) exercise. TBL is one of the many learning modalities used by OUWB. This exercise will give you the opportunity to participate in a session to get a feel for how TBL is utilized in the curriculum.

All Aboard!

We’ll jump on a charter bus for a quick trip to Royal Oak – home to Beaumont’s largest hospital with more than 1,000 beds. Enjoy lunch in an informal setting with current OUWB students.

Each applicant is scheduled for two separate interviews with physicians, faculty members, deans, or M4 students. Both interviews will take place at Beaumont, Royal Oak. Interviews are semi-blind, which means the interviewers do not have access to your academic record (GPA, MCAT score, etc.) or letters of recommendation.

Tour Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak

An OUWB student will lead you on a tour of the hospital. We think you’ll be impressed by this major academic health center with Level I Trauma status.

Wrap-Up Session

The Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Services will address any unanswered questions you may have before departing back to Oakland University for an optional campus tour.

Optional Tour: Oakland University (concludes at 5 p.m.)

You will have the option to tour the beautiful Oakland University campus with visits to the Center for Medical Student Services, student study spaces, student lounge, OU Recreation Center, Medical Library including study rooms, and the Anatomy Lab.
