Abhinav Krishnan, Ph.D.
Associate Dean of Medical School Admissions
 and Enrollment Management 

Abhivav KrishnanAbhinav Krishnan, Ph.D., MPH, is the associate dean of Admissions and Enrollment Management.Prior to OUWB, he was responsible for enrollment management and admissions as the associate director at Wayne State University School of Medicine where he also gained experience working as a research manager for NIH and private pharma-funded clinical and translational studies.

Dr. Krishnan has a master’s and Ph.D. degree in physiology along with a master’s in public health from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He has been involved in medical research and medical education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interest focuses on neural control of cardiovascular function during exercise and its impact on public health as it relates to underserved populations.

Additionally, Dr. Krishnan currently serves on the diversity and inclusion committee for the American Physiological Society, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Trinity Health, and has served on national committees and workgroups for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) as a national ambassador for the Center for Health Justice, Promising Practices in Admissions & Holistic Review, and PREview.

Dr. Krishnan, a southeast Michigan native, also volunteers his time in various leadership roles for community service organizations such as Hype Athletics, Veterans Affairs Hospital, and MatchLighters.

Allison Foust, M.Ed.
Interim Assistant Dean of Medical School Admissions
 

Allison FoustAllison Foust, M.Ed., joined Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine as the assistant director of Medical School Admissions in 2021. Allison has more than 10 years of experience working in admissions at several higher education institutions. She has helped students at the community college level (Sinclair College; Dayton, Ohio), a traditional four-year undergraduate school (Indiana University; Kokomo, Indiana) as well as at the professional graduate level (Indiana University; Bloomington, Indiana). 

While at IUB, Allison served as the director of International Graduate Admissions for the Maurer School of Law. Her experience working with a professional graduate program is what interested her in coming to OUWB. She will be helping to plan Interview Days and utilizing her bachelor’s degree in events management for these experiences.

Monique Aftimos
Admissions Coordinator

MoniqueMonique Aftimos is the coordinator for Medical School Admissions where she is responsible for recruiting medical students, participating in OUWB Interview Days and Second Look, and coordinating the Student Ambassador program.

Prior to joining OUWB, Monique was a director of Health Science at Baker College of Flint and served as program administrator for the Department of Internal Medicine Residency Program for the Flint campus of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Monique’s experience extends beyond academia. She was part of a team that helped build a new physician’s practice, where she was involved in all aspects of the process including construction. This experience provides Monique with a comprehensive perspective of a student’s medical school journey.

Monique earned an MBA at Baker College Center for Graduate Studies.

Dawn Pobocik
Admissions Office Assistant

An image of Dawn PobocikDawn Pobocik is the office assistant for Medical School Admissions.  She assists potential students during Interview Days, and other department events such as Preview Days, along with managing webinars, and corresponding directly with potential and admitted students.

Prior to OUWB, Dawn worked for Oakland University Graduate School Admissions, where she was responsible for processing applications of incoming students. Previous to Oakland University, Dawn worked at Mott Community College in the Disability Services department.

Dawn received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Michigan-Flint.
