Inaya Hajj Hussein

Dr. Hajj Hussein is Course Director for the Renal and Urinary Organs System Course at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and also teaches Anatomical Sciences to M1 and M2 students. She is a member of the Admissions Committee and of the M1/M2 Curriculum Subcommittee. She joined OUWB in 2012.

Prior to joining the OUWB, she was a Research Associate in the Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology and Physiology at the American University of Beirut, where she taught Histology, Anatomy, and Neuroanatomy to medical students as well as Anatomy and Histology to Allied Health Professions. She also taught Microbiology and Immunology to Nursing and Nutrition students at the Beirut Arab University and the Lebanese University, Faculty of Health Sciences.

Dr. Hajj Hussein received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, and an M.S. in Microbiology and Immunology and a B.S. in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut.

Her research interests include basic and applied medical research focusing on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Wound Healing. In addition, she has performed multiple field studies on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections. She is a member of the American Association of Anatomists, the Lebanese Association for the Advancement of Science, the Lebanese Health Society, and the Lebanese AIDS Society.

Dr. Hajj Hussein is a member of the editorial board of Human & Health Magazine, a publication of the Syndicate of Hospitals in Lebanon. She is the author of more than 20 scientific articles and chapters in international scientific journals.
