Michael D. Bolon
Michael Bolon is a retired executive with an accomplished career spanning over five decades in defense systems engineering, program management, and technology development. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Engineering Design and Development at General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS), a role he assumed in August 2000. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing Research and Development, Systems Engineering, Product Design, Systems Integration, Prototype Fabrication, Testing, and Logistics Engineering. His leadership extended across engineering operations at the GDLS-California Technical Center, GDLS-Canada, and the Robotic Systems Technology Research and Development facility in Maryland. In addition to this role, Bolon served as President of Eagle Enterprise, a General Dynamics subsidiary focused on System-of-Systems Technology Integration.
Bolon began his career in 1968 at Chrysler Corporation, where he managed the design and development of the M1 Abrams Tank propulsion system. After General Dynamics acquired Chrysler Defense in 1982, he became Deputy Program Manager for Tank Programs, leading engineering for the M1A1 Tank, a key performer in Operation Desert Storm.
From 1986 to 1991, he served as General Manager of Armored Vehicle Technologies Associated (AVTA) and later held senior roles, including Vice President for Amphibious Systems and Vice President, Production & Delivery, overseeing advanced military programs and international manufacturing efforts.
Bolon a graduate of Wayne State University (B.S. Mechanical Engineering, 1968; M.Eng., 1972).
