George Saikalis, Ph.D.

Dr. George Saikalis is a distinguished executive with over 28 years of experience at Hitachi, currently serving as General Manager of the Global Planning Management Center at Hitachi America. In this role, he leads strategic planning and operational initiatives across global markets, driving innovation and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.

Since joining Hitachi in 1997, Dr. Saikalis has held several leadership positions, including Senior Vice President (2014–2020) and Vice President (2012–2014). He was instrumental in expanding Hitachi's footprint in North America and enhancing its technological solutions. As Senior Director and Director, he managed advanced engineering projects and spearheaded research efforts for automotive and industrial technologies. Beginning as a Senior Research and Development Engineer, Saikalis quickly advanced to Chief Researcher, where he led critical R&D programs that contributed to Hitachi’s reputation for innovation and excellence.

Dr. Saikalis holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (2000) and a MS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (1990) from Wayne State University. His contributions to technology are underscored by over 25 granted U.S. patents, reflecting his commitment to innovation.
