In-person Events and Tours
We offer student-led tours of the OU campus nearly every weekday. Check our calendar for the full schedule. During the college visit you will:

Tour Oakland University’s academic buildings and residence halls.

See laboratories, design studios, and other hands-on learning facilities.

Visit the Oakland Center, which houses our bookstore, coffee shop, food court, and student organizations.

Meet a current student and learn first hand about life on campus at OU!
The campus tour includes plenty of opportunities to connect with our community. You’ll meet students, faculty, admissions advisers, and other people who shape the character and values of OU’s campus.
It only takes a few seconds to register for a college visit. We look forward to seeing you on OU’s campus.
High school students, transfer students and their families will meet Oakland University faculty, staff and students and learn more about OU’s 140 undergraduate majors. You’ll also learn about scholarships and financial aid, the admission process, and how to make a successful transition to college.
Sign up for the sessions you’re interested in — attend multiple ones if you are interested in several academic disciplines! Go for the Gold is held twice a year — once in the spring and once in the fall.
Oakland University is excited to host groups of prospective students for an informative and exciting visit experience. Throughout the academic year and beyond, Undergraduate Admissions offers groups of high school (grades 9 - 12) and community college students the opportunity to learn why OU is a top choice in higher education, and to tour our beautiful campus.
Group Visits are offered most Monday - Thursday mornings. Visits include a presentation (including college readiness and OU Admissions information), and a campus tour.
Request Process
To request a visit with us, please note the following process:
- Group Visit requests can be sent via email to [email protected]; please provide the following:
- Your name and contact information
- School / organization name and location
- Number and grade level of students
- Number of chaperones
- Requests will be reviewed as they are received, and our team will determine priority for visit scheduling (considerations for which include grade level); the main contact for the group may be contacted by Admissions staff for further clarity
- Groups selected for a visit will be asked to complete a full request form, which will allow us to collect additional details and date preferences
- A confirmation will be sent to the main contact confirming date, time, location and additional details for the visit; a registration link will be provided in the confirmation email, to collect student information prior to the visit (if possible)
Sample Itinerary
Group Visits follow this general itinerary (alterations may be possible, based on group needs):
- Arrival - 9:15 a.m.
- Presentation - 9:30 a.m.
- Campus Tour - 10 a.m.
- Departure - 11:30 a.m.
Group Policies and Expectations
- We ask that your group does not exceed 50 students
- Group Visits are offered for high school (grades 9 - 12) and community college students; some exceptions may be made, and will be determined on a case-by-case basis
- Groups must have 1 chaperone for every 10 students on the visit; chaperones must stay with their group at all times, including the campus tour
- Contact information (including cell phone number) for all chaperones attending the visit is required
- Changes in arrival time, group size or chaperone contacts must be shared at least one day prior to the visit

Attend our Transfer Student Open House to receive an immediate admission decision and credit evaluation. OU staff will answer questions about general education requirements, transfer credit procedures and financial aid. Held from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Are you a high school or early/middle college student planning ahead, or a community college student planning to transfer after the completion of your associate's degree? Attend our College Credit Advising Day where academic advisers from your major area of interest will be available to guide you in course selection, ensuring your time at the community college is maximized. This event will help to guarantee you are on the right path for transferring credit to OU.
High school students and their family members are invited to find out how they can prepare for college. Admissions and financial aid experts will discuss the college selection process, transitioning from high school to college, and financing a university education. Reservations are required.
