Ann Voorheis-Sargent joined OUWB in 2013 as founding Director of the Center for Excellence in Medical Education (CEME). Ann oversees all of the OUWB faculty and staff development. Ann has over 25 years of college teaching experience. In addition, she has held numerous administrative positions in academics and business.
Ann earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with a cognate in Higher Education and Adolescent Counseling from Oakland University. Her dissertation focused on the motivating factors of adult students, working in the auto industry, to enroll in college. She holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Oakland University, a Master’s degree in Human Resources Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Michigan State University. She is also a trained Implicit Bias facilitator.
Ann serves as the Course Director for the Residents as Teachers Program, the Inclusive Curriculum program, the Peer Coaching program and Local Director for the Leadership Education and Development Program (LEAD). She also serves as the Co-Director for the Diversity Champion, Fellowship in Medical Education, and Medical Education certificate programs. This year, to help Beaumont employees meet the licensing requirement from the State of Michigan (LARA), Ann and the CEME offer multiple Implicit Bias sessions.
