Scope and Applicability:
All students enrolled in the School of Medicine
Standard Practice Guideline:
Sub-internships are a one-month M4 year experience in medicine, providing students with greater supervised responsibility for patient care in one of five areas: Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Surgery. During the sub-internship, students gain an increased awareness of the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that physicians strive to acquire and maintain throughout their careers.
Procedures:
All sub-internships for core credit are restricted to fourth year medical students and must be completed at OUWB School of Medicine. Students enrolled in a sub-internship must work the exact schedule as their Beaumont Health System team; holidays, vacation days, etc. are not observed during sub-internships.
